Tafta Set To Spoil Guests At Annual Fundraising Gala Dinner

Beneficiary of the Tafta Home Based Care service, Mrs Ritakumarie Singh of Clairwood, says she’s beyond grateful for the aid she receives from Tafta trained Home Based carer Gugu Miya. Miya, who’s been a carer to members of Singh’s family for over a decade, caring first for her ailing mother-in-law and now herself, in turn says she loves the work she does and the opportunity it gives her to serve the sick and vulnerable.

“I am forever indebited to Gugu, I see her as a member of our family and I truly thank Tafta for offering this service to us,” said Singh of the Home Based Care programme which is the beneficiary programme of Tafta’s annual Fundraising Gala Dinner on 25 October 2019 at The Southern Sun Elangeni Hotel this year

Hosted by ECR personality, celebrity and comedian Darren Maule, the event will include the opportunity to win fabulous weekend getaways from Platinum destinations, and the Fairmont Zimbali resort, a Dolphins cricket team autographed bat sponsored by Hollywood Bets and Tsogo Sun hotels dinners to the Grill Jicana and a Beverly Hills hotel High tea. Also in the line-up is a Cape Carnival dance item by Tafta’s own elders and music by DJ Rishie. On the menu is a three course buffet dinner which will include a delectable dessert by Chateau Gateaux. All guests will leave with an exclusive guest goody bag.

Speaking of the beneficiary programme for this year’s event, Tafta CEO Femada Shamam urged members of the public to support the event, which makes a huge impact on members of beneficiary communities: “Our Home Based Care programme is a needs based programme that sees Tafta carers go into communities to provide basic care services to elders in need. Services include bathing, medicine administration, basic household duties and dressing the elder. This programme continues to grow at a rapid pace and through this event, we hope to raise enough monies to both sustain and increase its reach to other needy communities. To date, we have provided this service free of charge, so we rely heavily on fundraising efforts to sustain the programme. Please help us care for those elders who reach out to us by supporting this event,” said Shamam.

Event tickets cost R650 per person or R6 500 per table.
