“I’ve always loved connecting with people on topics that matter and that is why I’m attracted to the media industry. Being able to interview our local celebrities and media personalities I get to talk to people about current affairs and ensure I create opportunities on media platforms to encourage these difficult if not easy yet fun conversations. On the flipside – I am an influential individual just trying to entertain fellow South Africans with my on-going celebrity and personality interviews and features.”
Formally from the city of Johannesburg, Ruan moved to Umhlanga – Durban in 2010. Currently the host of his own YouTube Channel “Ruan Scheepers” he also runs his very own lifestyle blog covering interviews in the form of some of South Africa’s best local artists and celebrities including food, fashion, travel, fitness and lifestyle. With his upbeat personality and infectious smile, Ruan – who entered the media industry in 2016 – is fast becoming one of South Africa’s most-loved and switched on media personalities.
THE BLOG
Being on point when it comes to his blogs and vlogs Ruan loves the perfect opportunity to unleash his creativity by engaging with a myriad of personalities across various industries; always staying on point when it comes to topics of conversation that are sparking interest amongst his followers.
Ruan first became interested in the South African media lifestyle in his early twenties. Having received the opportunity in 2016 to take blogging and vlogging to whole new level, Ruan was determined to make every success of this new venture. The rest, as they say, is history.
Ruan was one of 16 contestants on the brand new reality TV show “The Longest Date” Season1 on SABC3 which aired on Monday nights 19h30 from February to May 2019. 16 Contestants were paired as 8 couples to battle it out for R100 000. While some pairs are perfect, a few mismatches have been thrown in for mischief.
The couples spent two weeks in pretty Mpumalanga taking part in adventure sports challenges during a series of dates. If you think adventure is dangerous, try dating! Ruan managed to make it to the semi finals and came third in the competition just one week away from the finale.
Ruan has been featured in the lifestyle magazine GET IT – Ballito Umhlanga, along side numerous news papers such us Cape Argus, Daily News, The Star and Cape Argus just to name a few.
A new venture for Ruan took place in June 2019 as the brand new presenter on DSTV Channel 144 Kyknet for The Big Brand TV Show Season 5 inconjunction with Huisgenoot, You & Drum Magazine. The show airs weekly every Wednesday and Friday at 20h57.
