Forget about the clubs, house music and rap and join the glamorous revival of dinner dance – a magical combination of great food and the space to whirl around the floor to some easy dance music from the 60s, 70s and 80s.
In a move reminiscent of the glitzy cabaret evenings along the Golden Mile in years gone by, dinner dance will come to the Cargo Hold at uShaka Marine World on Saturday, June 22.
Set in this plush, nautical themed restaurant within the iconic Phantom ship and surrounded by the most graceful of all creatures – the reef sharks together with other marine animals within the beautiful ocean tank – this will be an occasion to tango, quick step or even jive to live music entertainment on the night.
Dinner will be served from 18h00 to some light background music. Dancing will start at 20h00.
For starters, diners can select one of the following – Patagonian calamari, grilled or fried with soya, garlic and ginger, Cream of tomato soup served with crème fraiche and basil pesto, crispy fried chicken livers with a peri-peri dipping sauce or thyme baked halloumi with red peppers and lemon.
The main course includes a selection of line fish (simply grilled with spices, lemon and olive oil) and served with French fries, a 200g grilled sirloin steak served with chips, a half chicken marinated in garlic and chillies and served with fries and peri-peri sauce and a vegetarian option which is a toasted risotto, mixed mushrooms, parmesan cheese and truffle oil.
The dessert buffet will be a spread of malva pudding and custard, fruit salad, chocolate mousse, cheesecake as well as ice cream and a variety of condiments.
