A picture perfect set-up right at the doorstep of the famous Dolphin Coast Ballito you will find, yes that’s right the brand new Butcher Block Restaurant making it the 4th in Kwa-Zulu Natal.
I could not have thought of a better spot right at the beach enjoying a mouth watering steak on a hot summers day as the sea-breeze blows through your hair and tickles the hair on your arm giving you goose bumps all over.
By now I am sure you know that I am a big lover of steak and not to mention the Butcher Block Group, so when I had the opportunity to go and review this brand new cozy and intimate restaurant without a doubt I was there.
And as per usual I could not fault the restaurant in any way. From the moment I walked in I was surrounded by friendly staff, which made me feel like they were my long lost friends making sure I was right at home.
I am always so amazed by the décor they use from wall art (be sure to see the amazing graffiti on their outside wall) to the lighting fixtures they use.
But back to the food, because surely that is what I came for! I must say my waitress was spot on with her knowledge of the menu making it slightly difficult for me to choose what I would like to eat.
I opted for their amazing lunch special and yes it is only R85 and to top it off it comes with a glass of Franschhoek Sauvignon Blanc or Merlot. And if you’re not a big drinker can swop it for a soft drink of your choice. Now that’s a bargain!
Being indecisive I opted for two lunch specials (being a little bit greedy) as I thought I would be able to finish it. But I must say they are not shy when it comes to portions. So what did I have? The 200g Sirloin (medium) with chips and their Spicy Mediterranean Salad, but first let me tell you this salad is everything!
So would I go back to the Butcher Block Ballito? Without a doubt yes! And I will be sure to take some friends and family along.

Had a great time there and the staff were wonderful. The manager and waiter were very attentive and we felt very well taken care of. Did I mention I had the most divine salad for lunch….did not expect that at a steakhouse 🙂
