Radisson RED launches urban massage area that offers guilt-free mid-afternoon rub-downs

True to its creative nature and nothing short of original, Radisson RED Hotel V&A Waterfront Cape Town (RED) recently launched Chilli Bang Bang (CBB); an urban massage area offering quick mid-afternoon rub-downs for those feeling somewhat frazzled from tirelessly navigating the 9 to 5 rat race.

In collaboration with exclusive unisex grooming salon Glasshouse Rejuvenation, RED has conceptualised a six-item massage menu that focuses on leaving patrons feeling super chilled and ready to continue facing their day.

Situated on the RED Roof, CBB is open from Tuesday through to Saturday between 09h00 and 18h00. Massages can be booked for either 30 or 45 minutes, and patrons can select from a neck rub all the way down to a full body massage.

The saucy Chilli Bang Bang massage menu includes:

  • The Quickie
  • The OMG
  • The Ultimate CBB

I caught up with Radisson RED – Chilli Bang Bang Acting General Manager: Leonie Andereya to give us some more information on Chilli Bang Bang.

1. Chilli Bang Bang was recently launched offering the perfect urban massage area at Radisson Red, is it something you felt was lacking in the past which makes it the perfect opportunity to increase your visitors?

We had a hidden open-air space on the other side of our roof, with breath-taking views overlooking Table Mountain. This space was only occupied by heat pumps, wiring and our solar panels; however, standing on the roof taking in the city views, feeling the soft breeze and hearing the bustling sounds of the city was such a captivating moment, we felt that we were sitting on a grand opportunity to create something amazing. As such, we figured this was the perfect opportunity to meet a demand that guests might have not known they had. The conception of Chilli Bang Bang absolutely increased our visitors and the interest in RED – it’s unbelievable!

2. With a 6-item massage menu, what would you say is the most popular on the menu thus far?

With the influx of visitors, we have received, we’ve seen that The Ultimate CBB massage for 60-minutes is a winner!

3. Who came up with the name Chilli Bang Bang and why specifically this name?

The process takes on a similar one as the way you name your child; you rule out the traditional, the usual and you think of the character you want to find in that place. Coupled with a few informal strategy sessions, Chilli Bang Bang was born!  

4. Would this be the perfect opportunity for couples and groups to come spend the perfect afternoon and be guaranteed to have an afternoon of pure bliss?

Oh well. That are some big words for a straight forward concept. No bliss to that, and it’s an experience more than a ‘pamper-journey’. The above sounds like a typical SPA experience, gives me chills… and not the ones you can bang. 

Well, we’d like to think of Chilli Bang Bang as more of the perfect spot to escape to and have a guilt-free, mid-afternoon exhale and treat. The aim is to chill and leave feeling rejuvenated and re-energised to tackle the rest of the day and/or week. If that is the customer’s kind of bliss, Chilli Bang Bang will definitely blow your mind and meet those needs – just the mind though because RED is not that kind of place.

5. Would you have to make a booking prior to coming or can guests just walk in?
