A Celebration of Women in Fashion

“Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world.” – Marilyn Monroe. At the Pavilion, we’re going a lot further; we’re giving her an entire store!

It’s Women’s Month and during August, the Pavilion is focused on empowering and supporting young, up and coming women entrepreneurs who want to leave their mark on the world.

And we’re starting with fashion!

Earlier this year, the Pavilion commenced a citywide search to find an aspirant young designer wanting to break into the retail market. So together with the Durban Fashion Fair a shortlist of these designers was created for this very purpose.

The submissions came in fashionably fast and furious proving just how much talent there was in the city, and how hungry designers were for the chance to start building their brands. In the end, designers like Zaviar Fashions, Fabrosands, Adelaide and Indoni Fashion House made the coveted shortlist, to name a few.

During Women’s Month the Pavilion celebrates these aspiring and in many ways, inspiring, young designers who are poised to leave an indelible fashion footprint on Durban’s style landscape. The work of these exciting designers can be currently seen at The Pavilion Designers Emporium, which is a pop-up store set up by the Pavilion in partnership with the Durban Fashion Fair. Here they have the opportunity to gain exposure, fine tune their retail craft and create the ideal platform to catapult them on to the world stage.

And we at the Pavilion will be immensely proud to claim that it all started right here!

The Pavilion Designers Emporium is a Proudly Pav initiative and will be trading from 14 June to 14 September 2019. Pop in and support local fashion and more importantly, our local women.

Happy Women’s Month
