Chetty is a multi-skilled educator and entrepreneur who not only started a business during a worldwide pandemic, but she also obtained her second degree and started a non-profit organisation during this time.
Chetty has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and lists entrepreneurship and technology as her key areas of focus.
In addition to running Dynamic Outlook, a level 1 BBB-EE recruitment and training business focusing on fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity and inclusion, she is also a part-time lecturer, a corporate trainer, and is currently working on an additional three groundbreaking projects.
One of these projects is a dating platform that is being developed in conjunction with an India-based IT company, the other is an online platform to improve test results for learners. Arguably her most important project is the launch of Mirriam’s Mission, a non-profit company focusing on youth education, in the memory of her late grandmother. The launch will take place in September 2022.
Tell us more about Dynamic Outlook and where your dream started?
My dream started in 2019 when I had a vision of opening up my own business solutions company. At that time I was working as an IT Software manager, I was comfortable in my job so I didn’t pursue it at that time. I knew deep inside me that one day I will make this vision a reality. In 2021 I made my vision a reality and moved upwards and forward. Dynamic Outlook offers the following services, recruitment, accounting services, payroll services, and corporate training. We are a level one BEE company. We strive to meet both our client’s and candidates’ needs to the best of our ability. We are a company that embraces diversity in the workplace. We are very passionate about serving our clients and are striving to become one of the top business solutions companies in SA!
After losing your job during the Covid-19 period how did you stay motivated to start your recruitment and training business?
When I got retrenched, I saw this as an opportunity to make my vision for 2019 a reality. Of course, there were a few challenges that came my way, but the one thing that kept me going was my drive to become a success so I could pass this success on to the less fortunate and also be able to work for myself whereby I didn’t have to go through that experience of being retrenched again.
You are in the process of starting your own dating platform, can you tell us more about it?
I am in partnership with a software development company based in India, whereby we are working with a well-known Astrologer based in SA, this dating app is different from others, this app matches people according to their star sign and further filters it based on what you are actually looking, example, interest, religion, height, etc, this astrologer has a client base of 60 0000 people and we will be launching first to his clients and thereafter to the public, it is a very exciting project, lots of people are finding it hard to meet people on their own and an online dating app is a common tool that people are using now to meet potential partners.
How did you find the motivation to start an NPC in memory of your Grandmother?
- As a child growing up with my granny, I saw the way she portrayed herself to the community and her spiritual life as well where by she was a dedicated churchgoer till her last week on her deathbed. My granny played a huge role in my life when it came to values, ethics, discipline, and helping others. She was such a giving person, that when you visited her, you could not leave without eating a meal at her place. I remember as I was growing up, every month when she collected her pension grant she would buy me my favourite chocolate or cake. She always had sweets with her, she knew I loved sweets and chocolates. As I grew older I saw the values my granny displayed. She was a humble kind person that whoever crossed her path always left happier and more spiritual than when she met them.
- Being her youngest grandchild out of 14 grandchildren, I have decided to follow her legacy. My granny welcomed strangers into her home and raised them as her own children. I remember she should always tell us not to refuse a beggar because Jesus could be disguised as one so whenever a beggar came knocking at her door she would always give them something.
- I have decided to open up this NPC in memory of her. Her name was Mirriam. That’s why it’s called Mirriam’s Mission.
- 18th of June 2022 marked 10 years of her passing.
- The purpose of Mirriam’s Mission is mainly to focus on the education sector. I am very passionate about the education sector and hence I choose to focus on this.
You have a strong love for education as a motivator. What are some of your strong points when it comes to motivating others?
- Upskilling the children by equipping them with entrepreneurial skills and technology. Having life skill workshops which will help them get prepared for life after school. Example how to prepare for job interviews, career direction, etc.
- Focusing on the well-being of teachers, especially teachers’ mental health awareness My idea here is to run mental health workshops for teachers, making their environment more pleasant by making their staff rooms, and classrooms brighter and more positive.
- Creating computer rooms for disadvantaged schools and teaching the learners basic computer skills.
- Some of my strong points when motivating people is the first step is to believe all things are possible and that you are the creator of your reality. I strongly believe we can have whatever we desire, as long as we believe in it and take inspired action towards our dreams and goals, nothing is impossible. Secondly, I encourage people to work on their mindset, our minds are very powerful and if we can train them to work for us instead of against us we can become very powerful. Examples of working on your mindset would be, meditation, walking in nature, reading books on the mind, and applying that knowledge. Having a positive attitude is also important and being able to deal with failure in a positive way when it comes our way. Never give up on your desires and dreams, if you can visualize them, you can create them. I have so many affirmations, every morning after I brush my teeth I look at my bathroom mirror and say about 6 affirmations three times each. My favorite and the one I start off with is, “ I am powerful.
Do you have any words of advice for anyone who might have lost their job due to Covid and how they can stay motivated?
One of my favourite authors is Robin Sharma. I read all his books. My favourite is the 5 am club book that he wrote. The one piece of advice I would give is to strengthen yourself. Create for yourself a powerful morning routine, the way you start your day sets the tone for the rest of the day. Covid was an eye opener for mankind and if there is something we can take away from this pandemic is that life is too short not to live our life to the fullest. If you have lost your job during Covid see it as an opportunity to follow your dreams if you want to be an entrepreneur or see it as an opportunity as a positive change to get your dream job. It is tough at times especially when you are under a financial strain, and have a family to support. The one piece of advice I can give you is to have faith and be positive. There is always light at the end of the tunnel, it all depends on how you react to your situation and what inspired action you take.
What else can we expect to see from Janice Chetty in the near future?
After my Npc project, in the next year or two, I will start writing my own book and creating my own make line, which I will disclose more about closer to the time. I am also looking to settle down and start my own family. All by the grace of God and I am looking to double my business revenue in the next year.
